Two of the Firm’s attorneys were also named Lawyer of the Year in their practice areas for San Diego: Randall J. Baron (Derivatives and Futures Law) and Darren J. Robbins (Litigation – Securities).

Darryl J. Alvarado, Aelish Marie Baig, James E. Barz, Jennifer N. Caringal, Bailie L. Heikkinen, Rachel L. Jensen, Christopher H. Lyons, Danielle S. Myers, Erika Oliver, Ashley M. Price, Willow E. Radcliffe, Jessica T. Shinnefield, and Christopher M. Wood were selected as Ones to Watch.

Robbins Geller attorneys are litigating precedent-setting and impactful cases in jurisdictions across the United States. The Firm was awarded Litigation Firm of the Year: Class Action by The National Law Journal at its annual Elite Trial Lawyers event. In 2022, the Firm was also ranked number one in the nation by Institutional Shareholder Services’ Securities Class Action Services for recovering nearly $1.9 billion for investors in 2021 alone.

Partners Aelish Marie Baig and Paul J. Geller are leaders in nationwide multi-district litigations prosecuting marketers, consulting firms, pharmacies, and distributors, among others, for their roles in facilitating the opioid epidemic. Baig served as co-trial counsel in a federal bench trial against Allergan, Teva, a Teva subsidiary, and Walgreens for violating California’s public nuisance law. On the eve of closing arguments, Robbins Geller and co-counsel reached a $58 million settlement with the Allergan and Teva defendants. The judge later ruled that the last remaining defendant, Walgreens, was liable for contributing to the opioid epidemic in the city and county of San Francisco.

Geller serves on the Plaintiffs’ Executive Committee of a nationwide multi-district litigation about the opioid crisis. Geller has been a key negotiator in recent two national settlements — a $26 billion settlement with distributors AmerisourceBergen Corp., Cardinal Health Inc., and McKesson Corp. and manufacturer Johnson & Johnson; and a $4 billion settlement with manufacturer Teva.

Partners Daniel S. Drosman and Tor Gronborg led the trial team in a securities fraud case against Twitter for allegedly concealing stagnant user growth and declining user engagement from investors. The Robbins Geller team, along with co-counsel, secured a record-breaking $809.5 million settlement, pending court approval, on the eve of trial. The proposed settlement would represent the largest securities fraud class action recovery in the last 20 years in the Ninth Circuit and the second-largest ever in that Circuit.

Partner Rachel L. Jensen served as co-lead trial counsel in a case against New Flyer, the largest bus manufacturer and leading manufacturer of electric buses in North America, on behalf of the State of California and the Los Angeles Metropolitan Transportation Authority for allegedly not fulfilling parts of its contract with LA Metro to manufacture buses. Jensen helped secure a multi-state community benefit agreement to create new workforce development programs, fair hiring programs, and equity measures in New Flyer’s facilities in Ontario, California and Anniston, Alabama.
