Partner Paul J. Geller has been elected to membership in the American Law Institute, the leading independent organization in the United States producing scholarly work to clarify, modernize, and improve the law. ALI develops and publishes the Restatements of the Law, Principles of Law, and Model Codes that are widely used by courts, legislatures, and legal scholars to guide and shape American law.

ALI announced its newest members earlier this week, which includes prominent judges, lawyers, and academics in the United States and worldwide who were selected through a confidential nomination and election process “on the basis of professional achievement and demonstrated interest in improving the law,” according to the Institute.

Paul, who has practiced at Robbins Geller for more than 20 years, leads the Firm’s Consumer Protection practice. He has led some of the most significant class actions and multidistrict cases in the country, including the landmark biometric privacy litigation against Facebook, and played a leading role in the nationwide opioid litigation that resulted in more than $50 billion in relief for communities and public agencies. He is an expert on complex litigation, multiparty negotiations, and leading-edge issues at the intersection of technology, privacy, and consumer protection.

“This recognition is one more example why we are so proud to call him our colleague and partner,” said Robbins Geller partner Darren J. Robbins. “Throughout his career, Paul has demonstrated a commitment to protecting consumers, holding powerful institutions accountable, and promoting access to justice. Paul will make a significant contribution to ALI’s efforts to improve the administration of justice,” he added.
