Overview

Juan Carlos Sanchez is an associate in Robbins Geller Rudman & Dowd LLP’s San Diego office, where his practice focuses on complex securities litigation. Juan Carlos was a member of the litigation team that secured a $60 million settlement – the largest shareholder derivative recovery ever in Tennessee and the Sixth Circuit – and unprecedented corporate governance reforms in In re Community Health Sys., Inc. S’holder Derivative Litig.  More recently, Juan Carlos’s representation of California passengers in a landmark consumer and civil rights case against Greyhound Lines, Inc. led to a ruling recognizing that transit passengers do not check their rights and dignity at the bus door.

In addition to actively litigating cases, Juan Carlos is also a member of the Firm’s Lead Plaintiff Advisory Team, which evaluates clients’ exposure to securities fraud, advises them on lead plaintiff motions, and helps them secure appointment as lead plaintiff.  Juan Carlos’s efforts have assisted institutional and retail clients secure lead plaintiff appointments in more than 40 securities class actions.

Juan Carlos is also part of Robbins Geller’s SPAC Task Force, which is dedicated to rooting out and prosecuting fraud on behalf of injured investors in special purpose acquisition companies.  The rise in “blank check” financing poses unique risks to investors, and this group – comprised of experienced litigators, investigators, and forensic accountants – represents the vanguard of ensuring integrity, honesty, and justice in this rapidly developing investment arena.

Before joining Robbins Geller, Juan Carlos served as a law clerk to the Honorable Nelva Gonzales Ramos of the United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas and interned with the Securities and Exchange Commission’s Division of Enforcement in Washington, D.C.

Juan Carlos earned his Juris Doctor degree from the University of California, Berkeley School of Law (Boalt Hall). While in law school, Juan Carlos served as a judicial extern to the Honorable Stephen Reinhardt of the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and was Student Director of the East Bay Workers’ Rights Clinic, Articles Editor for the Berkeley La Raza Law Journal, and a recipient of the Honorable Cruz Reynoso Social Justice Fellowship. Juan Carlos earned his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of California, Davis and is a graduate of the Coro Fellows Program.
