Adam J. Smith

Adam Smith is an associate in Robbins Geller Rudman & Dowd LLP’s Chicago office. As a member of the Firm’s Delaware Practice, Adam represents institutional and individual investors in merger, securities, and breach of fiduciary duty litigation, primarily in the Delaware Court of Chancery.

Before joining the Firm, Adam was an associate at Kaplan & Grady LLC, a Chicago-based litigation boutique, where he represented plaintiffs in high-stakes commercial and fiduciary-duty disputes and victims of police and prison abuse in complex civil-rights actions. He began his career at Winston & Strawn LLP (now Winston Taylor LLP), where, as a first-year associate, he played a critical role in securing a federal jury verdict on behalf of an Illinois prisoner, before serving as a judicial law clerk to the Hon. Sue E. Myerscough of the U.S. District Court for the Central District of Illinois.

Adam received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and his Juris Doctor, cum laude, from Harvard Law School, where he was managing editor of the Harvard Civil Rights–Civil Liberties Law Review, a semifinalist and oralist in the Ames Moot Court Competition, and a Supreme Court Director of the HLS American Constitution Society. He is a director of the Chicago Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Section and a past member of the boards of several national and Chicago-area nonprofits.
