Robbins Geller Rudman & Dowd LLP Announces Former Assistant Attorney General Desiree Cummings Has Joined the Firm’s Manhattan Office

Desiree Cummings has joined Robbins Geller Rudman & Dowd LLP as Of Counsel. Ms. Cummings previously served as an Assistant Attorney General in the Investor Protection Bureau of the New York Attorney General’s Office from 2012 until the end of 2019. Ms. Cummings was a key member of the NYAG’s prosecution of JP Morgan Chase for its marketing, sale, and issuance of toxic residential mortgage-backed securities, resulting in a recovery of $1 billion for the State of New York. She also led other noteworthy securities prosecutions for the State of New York, including the civil investigation of the perpetrator of a Ponzi scheme that resulted in a 28-count criminal indictment and conviction by the NYAG’s Criminal Enforcement and Financial Crimes Bureau.

Before joining the New York Attorney General’s Office, Ms. Cummings practiced law with prominent defense firm Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP. Ms. Cummings is a graduate of the University of Michigan Law School and Binghamton University.
