Robbins Geller Obtains Certification of Class of Bridgepoint Education, Inc. Shareholders
On January 15, 2015, Judge Jeffrey T. Miller of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California granted certification to a class of investors who purchased Bridgepoint Education, Inc. (“Bridgepoint”) common stock between May 3, 2011 and July 13, 2012.
In granting class certification, the court determined that each of the Rule 23(a) factors – numerosity, commonality, typicality and adequacy – and Rule 23(b)(3) were satisfied. Specifically, the court concluded that the lead plaintiffs, City of Atlanta General Employees Pension Fund, and Teamsters Local 677 Health Services & Insurance Plan, are adequate because they “have every incentive to actively litigate this case” and their counsel, Robbins Geller, “has documented its experience in litigating securities-fraud class actions.” Order at 8.
Robbins Geller is continuing to prepare this case for trial, which is scheduled to commence on January 25, 2016.
