Robbins Geller Partner Recognized as Mid-South “Rising Star” for 2015
Super Lawyers, an affiliate of Thomson Reuters, named Robbins Geller partner Christopher M. Wood to its annual Mid-South Super Lawyers “Rising Stars” list for 2015. Super Lawyers recognizes attorneys who have distinguished themselves for their high degree of peer recognition and professional achievement in their legal practices. Each year, no more than 2.5% of lawyers are honored as Rising Stars in each region. Annual selection is made through a statewide survey of lawyers, independent research evaluation of candidates and peer reviews within each practice area. In 2015, Wood was the only attorney specializing in representing investors in securities litigation selected for this recognition in the Mid-South.
Wood has been a member of numerous litigation teams responsible for recovering hundreds of millions of dollars for investors in Tennessee, as well as across the globe. In 2014, after more than four years of litigation and on the eve of trial, Wood and other Robbins Geller attorneys led shareholders to a $65 million recovery in a securities class action against Psychiatric Solutions Inc. and four of its former and current executives. The settlement was the largest securities class action recovery in the Middle District of Tennessee in almost a decade. Wood also helped achieve a $265 million recovery for shareholders of Massey Energy Co. in an action alleging that Massey’s executives made false and misleading statements regarding its commitment to safety prior to the tragic Upper Big Branch Mine Disaster.
Commenting on the award, Wood said, “It is an honor to be recognized for my part in the critical work Robbins Geller performs in Nashville and beyond to fight corporate corruption and help ensure a level playing field for investors.” Wood’s selection marks the fourth time he has been selected as a Rising Star in the last five years.
