Law360 Names Jason Alperstein a Rising Star for 2017

July 17, 2017

On July 16, 2017, Law360 named Robbins Geller partner Jason H. Alperstein a Rising Star for 2017 in the category of Consumer Protection. Law360’s Rising Stars recognizes attorneys under 40 “whose legal accomplishments transcend their age.” The winners were chosen from more than 1,200 submissions. They are comprised of top litigators and dealmakers who have demonstrated outstanding career accomplishments and practice at a level usually seen from veteran attorneys.

Having joined Robbins Geller in 2015, Alperstein has been a key member of the Firm’s consumer class action practice. Alperstein was an integral member of the litigation team for In re Volkswagen “Clean Diesel” Marketing, Sales Practices, & Prods. Liab. Litig., prosecuting claims on behalf of almost 600,000 consumers who were misled into purchasing and leasing Volkswagen, Audi and Porsche vehicles that were marketed as environmentally friendly, yet emitted toxic pollutants up to 40 times the legal limit permitted by the EPA. Alperstein assisted the Plaintiffs’ Steering Committee and partner Paul J. Geller in almost all aspects of the litigation. His broad-based litigation experience representing both plaintiffs and defendants provides him with an invaluable perspective when prosecuting claims on behalf of consumers who have been harmed by corporate wrongdoing.

Alperstein is currently litigating several other automotive cases, including Bledsoe v. FCA US LLC, a case against FCA and Cummins, Inc. concerning Dodge Ram trucks that emit pollutants such as NOx emissions beyond legal limits and contrary to the representations made by defendants. He is also working with Geller again in Benkle v. Ford Motor Co., a case involving defective electronic throttle body units in Ford vehicles, and in In re Ford Fusion & C-MAX Fuel Economy Litig., representing automotive owners against Ford for false or misleading advertisements about certain Ford vehicles’ fuel efficiency.

Law360 will run a more detailed profile on Alperstein and his accomplishments in the coming weeks.
