On November 30, 2020, Super Lawyers announced Robbins Geller attorneys Christopher Wood and Christopher Lyons as Mid-South Rising Stars. They were named for being “outstanding lawyers . . . who have attained a high-degree of peer recognition and professional achievement.”

Chris Wood, partner in charge of the Nashville office, practices complex securities litigation and has been a part of several teams securing hundreds of millions of dollars for defrauded investors. He also provides pro bono services through the Tennessee Justice for Our Neighbors. Chris Wood represented public school children and parents in Tennessee challenging the state’s private school voucher law, known as the Education Savings Account (ESA) Pilot Program. He helped achieve favorable rulings enjoining implementation of the ESA for violating the Home Rule provision of the Tennessee Constitution, which prohibits the General Assembly from passing laws that target specific counties without local approval. This is the ninth year he has received this award.

Chris Lyons practices merger-related class action litigation and complex securities litigation, and has received this award for three consecutive years. His pro bono work includes representing individuals who are appealing denial of necessary medical benefits by TennCare (Tennessee’s Medicaid program), through the Tennessee Justice Center.

Each year, no more than 5% of lawyers are honored as Super Lawyers and 2.5% are named as Rising Stars in each state. Annual selection is made through a statewide survey of lawyers, independent research evaluation of candidates, and peer reviews within each practice area. The Super Lawyers lists are published nationwide in Super Lawyers Magazine, as well as leading city and regional magazines and newspapers across the country. A full description of the methodology behind Super Lawyers’ selection process can be found on their website.
