Settlement of Sonny Low, et al. v. Trump University, LLC and Donald J. Trump, No. 3:10-cv-0940-GPC(WVG) (“Low Action”) and Art Cohen v. Donald J. Trump, No. 3:13-cv-02519-GPC-WVG (“Cohen Action”) (together, the “Actions”)
The parties have reached a settlement of these Actions pending in the United States District Court for the Southern District of California. The settlement provides for the payment of $25,000,000.00 to resolve these Actions and another action brought by the New York Attorney General. To maximize the recoveries for thousands of Trump University students around the country, Robbins Geller is not seeking to recover any attorneys’ fees or litigation expenses in these Actions, despite prosecuting the action for six years.
Plaintiffs alleged that Donald J. Trump and Trump University made false or misleading advertising promises that Trump University’s live seminars and mentorships (the “Live Events”) would provide access to Trump’s real estate techniques taught by his “hand-picked” professors at an elite university. The Class consists of all persons who purchased a Trump University Live Event in the United States from 2007 through May 23, 2010, and who have not yet received a full refund. Excluded from the Class are Defendants, their representatives and employees, their affiliates and any entity in which Defendants have a controlling interest, as well as all judges assigned to the Actions, and their immediate family members.
The settlement was preliminarily approved by the Court on December 20, 2016. The Court has scheduled a final approval hearing for March 30, 2017, at 1:00 p.m.
If you are a Class Member, to receive a payment from the settlement, you must submit a Claim Form postmarked no later than March 6, 2017. Click on the Claim Form link below and follow the instructions in order to be eligible for any payment.
